War pulls you away from your loved ones. Your friends, family, spouse, etc. Soldiers go into war and don’t see their families for months or even years. They get to send letters back home but it is not the same as seeing them in person. The man in the picture is holding a note from his spouse. By the look on his face he looks like he misses her. He has a high ranking be his badges and that may mean that he has been there for a while and he is emotionally detached from her. This supports my thesis because soldiers go through a lot of detachment being away from the people they love for long periods of time. Some soldiers carry letters or pictures with them to help them feel closer to their partners.

ReplyDeleteI love the picture and the way you connected it to the main thesis. The examples of letters and pictures showed me that war is also about leaving loved ones. I loved the way you focused on the soldiers facial expression and how it made your thesis stronger by saying how he felt about his loved ones. Great job!
