War is unforgivable. Being a soldier or someone who was drastically affected by the aftermaths of war. In this art work, there’s multiple pill bottles whose contents are scattered everywhere, which represents that there’s multiple people who are affected by PTSD, and that their PTSD dehumanizes them (in the point of view to of the disorder, they’re all seen as the same). The shards of the mirror represent how that after the soldiers come home, they can’t look at themselves the same way, and they can’t be the same person they once were before going off to the war. “It was a sad thing to watch. Definitely not the old Rat Kiley”(O'Brien 210) In this quote we see how Rat Kiley is affected by the nightlife, he becomes paranoid, and even goes to the extent of shooting his foot to leave Vietnam.
