War Is Finding Serenity In Demise
There is always a beautiful side to war. It may not be the part where soldiers are shooting one another to survive or throwing grenades at the enemy. Some say it is the beauty in between the action or even after that. These photos show the beauty in war outside of death. Beautiful images of war are never to trick someone into glorifying war. The tree symbolizes the horrific action that happens in war, but the beautiful outcome of it too. Such as when a soldier gets to come home after a year or when the country you fought for wins the war. Many soldiers become desensitized to killing and death but also learn to value life more. They know that they are always close to death so they cherish their time as much a possible. The soldier sitting next to the girl is clearly from another country; A country that is full of bad people that the man is trying to kill. Connecting with this girl and showing her that people like him aren’t bad shows trust and peace in the war. The little girl is not afraid and neither is the man. The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is mandated by law. The “honor detail” perform a ceremony that includes the folding and presenting of the American flag to the next of kin and the “Playing of Taps”. The soldier who had served and been through war is finally at peace. He or she has been given a proper burial by the men and women they served with. The Seas of Red at the Tower of London: The poppies encircle this iconic landmark, creating a spectacular display visible from all around the tower but also is held at a location for personal reflection. The Poppies are intended to reflect the magnitude of such an important centenary and create a powerful visual commemoration for all the soldiers who have died in World War One. All of the poppies that made up the installation were sold. This raised millions of pounds which were shared equally amongst six service charities. Having such a beautiful landmark for the soldiers who have passed and their families shows the beauty in their bravery and their unforgotten deaths.

ReplyDeleteI agree, when faced with nonstop violence, all one wants is peace. Being in the middle of a war zone, I would imagine is very stressful and horrifying. This probably leaves many soldiers yearning for peace. I think the visual does a good job of explaining this. Talking to that little girl could have been the best part of that solider's tour. The little things start to become greatly appreciated. GREAT JOB!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your argument. It was just hard for me, personally, to understand how some of your statements went with your War is statement. I love the image of the bomb explosion turning into a tree. How something ugly can turn into something beautiful. I also love the picture of the soldier and the little girl. It reminded me that not everything in war is bad and filled with blood and death. There are some benefits of going to war.
ReplyDeleteI think that the idea of having beauty in war even through all the violence is very true. When going through the violence in war there are beautiful events too, such as the strong comradeship between soldiers. I agree that when being very close to death one starts to cherish the little things. The image really portrays how soldiers will take all the good they can in a sense. Talking with the little girl could have been the highlight of that soldiers tour. The little things bring happiness. Great Job.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures really ties in with your thesis, good visuals. This opposes everyone's idea that war is terrible and nothing god comes out of war.
ReplyDeletevery good word choice for your thesis statement. I think that this challenges the idea of war that everyone may have. It really shows how during war there is violence, death, brutality, and evil. However, you really captured how after war and when everything is done the main end result is beauty. I really like the image of the tree because I think you are initially drawn to the trunk of the tree. When I look at it all I see is war. You see a bomb exploding and the horro within. However as you move your eyes up the picture you see another bomb exploding. But it's a beautiful bomb. It is nature being replenished and humanity reconciled. I really like this image because of how they are positioned with the horro at the bottom and the glory at the top.
