These photos show the bomb that the US dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US destroyed an entire city, when really, they should have excluded the innocent people of Hiroshima from the attack. They went to extreme measures by bombing a whole city, when their actual target was the Hiroshima military headquarters. This was a selfish act committed by the US, directed towards what the city of Hiroshima used to be. Wars go to extreme lengths to achieve their ambition, not caring or thinking through all of the possible outcomes that their actions will have. Hiroshima is just one example of how extreme wars can be, and that the damage being done often goes too far.

ReplyDeleteThe idea you had is very interesting to me. War can be very extreme and your images depicted that. The second image was more moving than the first, because it showed the sheer destruction within Hiroshima. For the first photo, I would have used a photo showing the chaos within the city, rather than a view from the plane. I loved the line where you said that wars achieve their ambitions without caring about possible outcomes, because it does show how war can make countries selfish. I think instead of using the word extreme, the word selfish would have fit this piece better, because most of your analysis had to do with the idea of the U.S not thinking of people within the country or the possible outcomes. Overall, this was a solid piece and you did a very good job!
