War is being Abandoned

wright We Regret To Inform You.gif

This artistic image shows the true sadness of how families or individuals feel when they get the “We regret to inform you” letter. The important message that is seen through the visual is that when someone loses someone important in their life, they lose a sense of self. The red cloth on her hand covering her eyes represents her son’s blood when he passed away during war. She’s wiping away her tears with his blood. The broken window represents how her life is crashing down but also represents her vulnerability. She’s almost in denial, angry, and depressed all in one day. It’s a truth reality that many families have to go through when they lose a child. The light bulb is shining right above her. This could represents her son’s spirit and how her child will always be looking after her. The light bulb also represents a sense of hope for the spectator, to ensure that she will always have an angel by her. The veteran that drew this tried to show the ugly truth by showing that not everyone made it home. How only the survivors got praised but the one’s that passed away didn’t get recognized at times. Tim O’brien writes, “ They carried all the emotional baggage.”(20). What he meant was the soldiers carry an intangible death baggage with them. The soldiers make a brotherhood and always worry for one another. As a parent, they carry that baggage as well. A parent worries for their child, never wants a tragedy to happen. A child is a parent's whole life. Losing a sense of self means not knowing how to react to certain situations and not willing to keep on living life how they used to. War is being abandoned because when the families loses their loved one, they will grieve, rebuild themselves up after a while but never be the same people they once were.

  1. Powerful image. This statement is very true because you never see on CNN stories about war its often just brushed up on and the only people who actually pay attention are the ones with family or loved ones in the military
