War is a Creator of Brotherhood

War is the creator of brotherhood when everything is at stake at war, the only ones to protect you are the people who is wearing camo and has the United States Flag patch on there right arm standing next to you. They rely on you just each other and if someone messes up it could cause the deaths of a whole squad. These two photo illustrate brotherhood in war at its finest. The first picture is Corporal Kyle Carpenter who throw his body on top of a hand grenade during a battle just to save his ally and best friend. The second pictures shows a soldier down and his other squad members trying to drag him out of the firing range but then the soldier who tried helping his colleague ended up giving the ultimate sacrifice his or her life. In The Things They Carried Tim O’brien shows how friendship with the Alpha Company was important. “They covered each other on patrol, shared a foxhole, took turns pulling guard at night. In late August they made a pact that if one of them should ever get totally rucked up—a wheelchair wound—the other guy would automatically find a way to end it. As far as I could tell they were serious.” War doesn’t just create a friendship it creates a bond that no other bond can beat.

  1. I agree with your thesis. I believe that your buddies in war will be your buddies for life because at the end of the day, everyone is so close to death. You fight side by side, day and night and I believe that brotherhood on the field is so strong. Your quote from TTTC was powerful because it shows the examples of how much time the soldiers spent together and the bonds they made. That is exactly what could be happening in war today. I appreciate how you didn't make your blog about war in general, but narrowed it down to the United States Armed Forces. Your pictures are really strong because it shows the soldiers risking their lives to save each other. It shows true brotherhood. You did an awesome job!
