War is... Conflicting

During the Vietnam War, “flower power” was a peaceful protest representing the opposition of the war. Protesters were using flowers and flags during anti war rallies for more positive attention. Protesters carrying flowers became influential images of the anti war movement. This photograph by Marc Riboud shows high school student, Jan Rose Kasmir holding a flower while staring at soldiers carrying guns. Smithsonian Magazine called this picture “a gauzy juxtaposition of armed force and flower child innocence.” The picture reflects the two sides of war: those in favor of war with the death and destruction that comes with it, and those who prefer peace. This picture is conflicting because it reflects the

  1. Your thesis is strong, arguable, and has a good idea behind it. Your photo very clearly illustrates your point, and your writing elaborates on it very well. You connected your idea and evidence really well, nice job!
